The start of a new year always brings with it pressures of setting goals like completely removing chocolate from my diet and exercising for one hour every day in the hopes to look like <insert-incredibly-hot-supermodel/actress-here> by next summer. This does not usually bode well for me as by day three I am gorging on a family sized block of Cadbury whilst sitting on the couch and binge-watching Say Yes to the Dress.
This year I decided to take a different tact. Before 2015 kicked off I headed into Kikki.K and purchased a Goals journal. Aside from being super pretty, this journal helps you to set smart and present goals to help you attain you dream life. This kinda sounds like the stuff of pyramid schemes, I know, but apparently there is some science behind it! Basically you have to identify what your life looks like in five years and then work out the steps to get there by setting measurable and attainable goals. Each month you can set up to four goals which line up with your core values and at the end of the month you get to review how you went and reward yourself.
For the month of January I have been focusing on the following:
Complete 30 Days of Yoga
One of my favourite YouTube channels is Yoga with Adriene. This month she is posting one yoga routine a day for 30 days, hence 30 Days of Yoga. I’ve been following along and had been doing pretty well up until getting sick over the weekend, but I plan on catching up before the 30 days are over. I think that will still count as a goal win!
Write five blog posts this month
You may have noticed I have been more active on here lately! I’ve been wanting to get back into my blogging for a long time now, but I waste a lot of time thinking about it and never actually doing it. So far I am up to post four and only have one more to go. I am so proud of myself for sticking with it thus far!
Plan our engagement party
Our party plans are well underway. We are having an intimate dinner with the bridal party and parents. G and I aren’t really big party animals so we thought it might be nice to dial it back a bit. I’ll definitely be posting a blog about it soon!
Cut down on social media time
This is a huge one for me. I waste copious amounts of time on Facebook and Instagram. One of my core values is to live in the present and I feel that social media really takes me away from this. So far this month I have been cutting out social media before bed, and I plan to cut out a little more day by day. It’s crazy how addictive it is!
It’s day 22 and I am still feeling pumped about my goals, we’ll see how things progress over the next few months!
