I’ve gotten back into reading in a big way. For the past few years I have taken to listening to audiobooks, but I find that I am not as engaged in what I am listening to the same way I would be if I was reading the printed word. While audiobooks definitely have their place (on long car rides, while exercising or catching public transport), reading allows for a more engrossing experience. Here are a few books on my summer reading list:
Looking for Alaska
I’m big into YA fiction and John Green definitely takes the cake in this realm. Looking for Alaska is about a boy who is seeking to escape his “safe life” at home. I started this book about a week ago and so far it is giving The Fault in Our Stars a run for its money. Another thing I like about John Green books – they aren’t super long so my arms don’t get tired!
I love a funny read, and Yes Please by Amy Poehler promises to be just that. It’s probably the kind of thing I should save for lunch breaks, rather than bed-time reading because sometimes I get too amped up on giggles!
Hitched in a Hurry
I guess you could say that G and I are getting Hitched in a Hurry, seeing as we are planning our wedding in eight short months. This book, written by Karley Kiker, is filled with tips, tricks and handy organisational tools promising to help you get swiftly to the big day. Seeing as most people these days take about 12 to 18 months to tie the knot I figure I am going to need some advice from someone who planned their wedding in only four months. I also really like the title!
