Last month we celebrated our engagement at a dinner party with our family and bridal party. I mentioned a little while ago that we weren’t keen on having a huge party, our wedding is only seven short months away so it seemed a little silly to have two big parties in one year. That said, we still wanted our engagement celebration to be extra special!
My mum was a huge part of making the evening a success. I may not have mentioned this before, but my mum is an AMAZING cook. I know everyone says that, but seriously, my mum deserves a Michelin Star or two. She helped me devise a menu which catered to everyone’s preferences. On the menu was prosciutto wrapped prawns, barbecue beef brisket and garlic mash, and sticky date pudding. I’m literally drooling right now.
For the table setting I was going for a relaxed, rustic vibe. I sewed up some yellow gingham fabric and bought some burlap. G and I collected flowers from the market in the morning and we arranged everything ourselves. He’s quite the floral artist since the epic proposal! G also painstakingly wrapped 15 bread rolls in brown paper, attaching rosemary sprigs from our garden.
The night was a great success, everyone had a great time, especially us! It really warms my heart to watch our families coming together. I can’t wait to marry G!
